Selection Criteria

The St. Albert Raiders will utilize the 1-5 grading system set out by Hockey Alberta.

            In addition emphasis will be placed on the following characteristics

            -Speed

            -Compete

            -Hockey Sense

            -Skill

**Character and accountability are non-negotiable. We need not only good hockey players, but must have good people as well**

Selection will take place during the selection camp being held in St.Albert beginning with rookie camp for all 2002 born players on August 25, 2017. Following rookie camp a list will be posted on the Raiders Website for all 2002 born players continuing on to main camp.

-Main camp will consist of one practice on September 1, 2017. Followed by two scrimmages on Saturday September 2, 2017. Following Saturday’s scrimmages, cuts will be made to fill 2 inter squad games on Sunday September 3, 2017. Further cut downs will occur following the inter squad games.  

-Camp coaches will be assigned to each team.

-Raiders coaches will be on ice during practices to establish initial rules and habits and to set tempo.

-time permitting each team will conduct a team building exercise during camp, prior to each ice session.

After selection notification to players will be done by team officials. Follow up phones calls will be made by all three coaches welcoming players to team.
