2020 Hockey Alberta High Performance 1 Seminar

Hockey Alberta is now taking applications for the 2020 High Performance 1 Seminar July 21-26 in
Red Deer, AB. The High Performance 1 Seminar is the first step for a coach to obtain certification at
the High Performance level. The seminar includes professional presentations, group tasks and a
post-task written assignment. The 2019 Seminar will be run in conjunction with a player camp,
providing practical coaching opportunities through practice and game situations.


National coaching requirements through the Hockey Canada Policy Statement outline:


All Head Coaches coaching Bantam, Midget or Junior A teams competing in Regional or National
Championships or the highest level as determined by the branch, must be High Performance 1
Certified. It is recommended that all Assistant Coaches be at minimum Development 1 trained.


In Alberta, this policy directly affects the following leagues:


Bantam AAA - Alberta Major Bantam Hockey League (AMBHL)
Midget AAA - Alberta Midget Hockey League (AMHL)
Female Midget AAA - Alberta Female Hockey League (AFHL)
Junior A - Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL)
Minor Midget AAA - Alberta Minor Midget AAA Hockey League (AMMHL)
