The St Albert SLASH swept away the Greater Vancouver Comets in the Pacific Regional Championship, winning the best of 3 in two straight games. Following a 2-0 victory in game 1, the SLASH followed up with a 3-2 win in game two on Saturday evening at Servus Place.
The SLASH came out fast and scored 2 goals in the first period. Maddison Willan opened up the scoring with a nice shot putting it top corner. Later in the period Jayme Doyle split the defenders and slipped the puck 5 hole to put the SLASH up 2-0 after the first period.
The Comets answered back with one of their own in the second period before Cassidy Maplethorpe made it 3-1 with a one timer from the side of the net. The Comets made a game of it when they scored with 5 and half minutes left in the third period. But it was too little too late.
The SLASH continues to make history. This SLASH team has done remarkable thing this year and now with their first Provincial and Regional championship under their belt, their focus turns to bringing home a National Championship.
The SLASH will now move on to the National Championship ESSO Cup in Morden Manitoba, April 23rd to 29th. The team departs for Morden on Saturday April 22nd. Tournament games on April 23rd.

April 24 vs. the host Pembina Valley Hawks
April 25 vs. the Quebec representatives, les Harfangs Du Triolet
April 26 vs. the west representatives, the Prince Albert Bears
April 27 vs. the Ontario representatives, the Durham West Lightning
